Take Your Grocery Store Roses to The Next Level

Vase Shapes

Something as simple as switching up your vase style can take your basic grocery store roses and make them look like they’re from a professional florist. I love playing with unique vase shapes like rectangular or square vases to give arrangements a more modern look. When using short vases, cut your roses nice and short. This will give them a simple, yet gorgeous bundled look.

Play with Height

Add some variety to your arrangement by cutting your stems at different heights. This visual appeal brings another level of sophistication to your roses.

Another height approach is to snip your roses nice and short. Cutting your roses short enough to not seeing a stem, gives them an editorial edge. Keep your roses hydrated with water vials or floral foam when cut extra short.

Floral Foam is Your Friend

Floral foam gives you more control when designing your floral arrangement. It keeps your flowers hydrated and lasting longer. When using floral foam make sure to let the water sink in to ensure every flower stem will have good access to water. The floral foam is filled with air so it’s so important to let an abundance of water fully sink in before adding your flowers.

Floral Water Vials

Floral water tubes allow you to arrange your flowers with the freedom of not needing your stems to be placed directly into water. Try adding floral preservative to the water used in the vials to ensure the healthiest and longest lasting flowers possible.

Add Texture

Add dimension to your floral arrangement with branches and other natural textures outside of your roses. When shopping at the grocery store for your favorite roses, be sure to explore additional filler floral options. This can be something leafy and green or it can be something spikey and fun, like blue thistle!
